Chinese Culture Week Opening Ceremony

Right after the Spring Festival, our school’s annual “Chinese Culture Week” kicked off, giving students a chance to dive into their cultural heritage and discover the beauty of history in our fast-paced world.

Our school believes in nurturing students who are proud of their roots and ready to take on the world. That’s why this year’s Chinese Culture Week was all about “Understanding the Past to Comprehend the Present.” We were thrilled to welcome Mr. CHEN Weiquan, a student of the famous Chinese studies expert Professor JAO Tsung-i, as our special guest for the opening ceremony. He shared fascinating insights into calligraphy and joined Principal Mr. WAN and other school leaders in the ribbon-cutting to officially start the week.

The vibrant dragon dance led the way, setting an exciting tone for the ceremony. Principal Mr. WAN then gave a speech, explaining the three key aspects of “Understanding the Past to Comprehend the Present”: mastering ancient culture, seeing how Chinese culture evolves in today’s global world, and paying attention to current issues. Mr. CHEN followed with stories from his calligraphy journey, showing how it connects with people and society, revealing the depth of Chinese culture. Next, students got to interact with a Chinese culture robot that blends old traditions with new technology, which was super cool! Teachers and students also dressed up in beautiful traditional clothes for a group photo. The celebration continued with amazing performances by our Chinese dance group, the drum troupe, and the orchestra, showcasing the elegance of Chinese culture.

We’re so thankful to Mr. CHEN for sharing his knowledge and love for Chinese culture with us. And a big thank you to Principal Mr. WAN for his amazing support of Chinese Culture Week!
