At The ELCHK Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School, knowledge grows through practice. From the cold terminology in textbooks to the tangible pulse of business, growth is nurtured by love and warmth, blossoming with warmth! Today, we share the stories of YLLSS students’ business-school partnership. Three student teams ventured into real business scenarios, comprehending the true essence of business through entrepreneurial practice, allowing their youth to shine in the fusion of knowledge and warmth!
The school and its partners from the business community uphold the YLLSS spirit of “Excellence with Love”. Using the YLLSS Ideation in Business competition as a bridge, they have paved a path for students to engage in authentic business practice. Students from different grades and classes formed three teams—Carmine, YLL Soleir Star, and Zen Blend. They participated in the entire process of starting a beauty product business and used the “Walk with Lutheranians in Love Fund” fundraising activities as an opportunity to combine business practice with public welfare. By turning business theories from textbooks into feasible actions, they made empathy the foundation of high-quality execution.
During this entrepreneurial journey, a series of tailor-made professional training sessions served as the cornerstone for students to break stereotypes and glimpse the reality of the business world. The school’s explanation of the “5Ps of Management” helped students establish a macro business mindset covering Product, Price, Promotion, Place, and People. Business partners organized a “Drone Youth Leader Training Camp”, using drone performance planning to hone teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit. Additionally, the “21st Century Youth Leader Entrepreneurship Training Course” comprehensively enhanced their market planning and leadership oratory skills. From theory to practice, and from mindset to vision, these experiences completely shattered the students’ inherent impression that “entrepreneurship is just starting a company and making money”, allowing them to see the growth and value creation behind business.
In the core stage of innovative research and development, YLLSS students focused on real pain points faced by secondary students, such as stress, insomnia, and skin concerns. They put the school’s development focus of “Harnessing Technology” into practice by deeply integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the entire R&D process.
Team Zen Blend used AI to aggregate student stress and happiness indices to verify market demand, screened sleep-aiding fragrance ingredients like lavender to optimize product formulas and utilized AI to design brand logos and visualize product prototypes.
Team Carmine made good use of AI to assist in the casing and structural design of anti-stress lipsticks, optimizing the grip experience. By making AI a powerful backbone for their startups, they transformed vague concepts into concrete products, empowering their entrepreneurial journey with full technological strength.
More preciously, through repeated market planning, product R&D, and charity sales on Parents’ Day, the students gained a profound understanding of the most authentic “warmth” in business. They realized that while AI can efficiently analyze data, it can never replace the unique creative soul and emotional value of human beings. A moving product must carry the passion, thoughts, and intentions of its creator; a long-lasting brand must balance efficiency with warmth. They injected warm details into market promotion and aligned product designs with the inner needs of target customers, ensuring their self-developed beauty products were not just commodities but carriers of care, truly warming people’s hearts.
This unique Business-School Partnership experience is a significant highlight in the career planning of YLLSS students. Whether it is the members of Team Carmine who aspire to enter business, the students of Team Zen Blend who wish to pursue scientific research, or NG Lok-ching of Team YLL Soleir Star who aims to study nutrition, all have gained precious nourishment that textbooks cannot provide. They learned to step out of their comfort zones, broaden their horizons, communicate their ideas effectively to gain recognition, and explore themselves to clarify their directions through teamwork. This experience has become an important inspiration for their future academic and professional development, accumulating strength for their journey of building dreams.
Education is never a solitary persistence confined to the classroom but a guide for children to step out of books and recognize themselves through real practice. Similarly, business is never a cold game of interests but a stage for growth filled with warmth, passion, and responsibility. In the small campus of YLLSS, we witness students touching the real pulse of business through this partnership, harvesting knowledge and growth, and letting every youthful dream shine with unique brilliance in a business world full of warmth!
