The S6 University Dream Flyers Parents’ Meeting was successfully held, bringing parents, students and teachers together for an in-depth exchange on HKDSE preparation and JUPAS programme selection, jointly preparing our Lutheranians for their path to university.
Facing this year’s highly competitive admissions landscape, Principal Mr WAN likened home-school collaboration to a pair of chopsticks — only when the two work closely in tandem can they firmly pick up a child’s dream. Principal Mr WAN reminded students to stay in good condition: while academic work matters, physical and mental well-being is the greatest asset of all — a healthy, regular routine is what enables students to go further and fly higher. Preparation must also be paired with pragmatic strategies. HKDSE answers demand rigour, and the skilful use of subject-specific terminology is like drawing a bow and hitting the bull’s-eye — aim for the highest possible score in every subject. Principal Mr WAN also took everyone back to the Blessing Ceremony held when they were admitted in Secondary One — as the fledgling eagles take their first flight, parents are the steady updraft that lifts them aloft; every cry is understanding and affirmation, and every flap of the wings is a pat on the shoulder, a warm embrace and a piping-hot bowl of soup.
Afterwards, Assistant Principal Ms CHEUNG Yee-ki explained the key considerations for programme selection in view of the latest fluctuations in admission scores. Introducing the “ICARE” principles, she emphasised paying close attention to “Recent trends” and leveraging one’s “Edges” (personal strengths), so as to prudently steer clear of risks in the strategic game of programme selection. Vice Principal Mr TAM Kin-fun then gave detailed guidance centred on HKDSE preparation progress and predicted grades, helping students anchor their direction and sit the examination with composure, injecting confidence into their steady preparation.
In the subsequent small-group consultation sessions, the University Dream Flyers mentors sat down with parents and students, offering tailor-made advice based on each student’s everyday learning and mock examination performance. Class teachers and subject teachers also consolidated revision priorities with reference to students’ actual performance, giving home-school communication both professional depth and the warmth of care.
From the S1 Blessing Ceremony to the S6 Graduation Ceremony, the school and families have always walked side by side. The future rests in students’ own hands, while home and school will forever remain their strongest support. May our Lutheranians stride forward with confidence along their JUPAS journey, spread their wings and soar, and reach the shore of their dreams.
