Opening Ceremony

The academic year of 2021 – 2022 commenced with a live broadcast of the Opening Ceremony. Despite the restrictions of social distancing, Lutheranians, both new and returning, joined in unison to celebrate the beginning of this new school year. Reverent LAM Yat-kwan Jenny, Supervisor of the school, laid the foundation for the event with a verse from the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” She reminded us that the Yuen Long Lutheran family is built with love, and the sacrificial love of Christ is exemplary for everyone to follow.

When Principal Mr. WAN Ho-yin delivered a welcome speech, he responded to Supervisor Lam’s sharing, reminding us about the value of the great love of sacrificing oneself and brightening up others’ life. Despite the reduction in face-to-face teaching time due to the pandemic, Lutheranians have tried their utmost in the public exams. Mr. Wan encouraged us to learn from the experience of the 20/21 class of graduates to have the courage to pursue our dreams, overcome difficulties, and devise learning strategies in our quest to realise our dreams. The virtues of resilience, generosity and self-reflection were also drawn upon. Finally, Mr. Wan encouraged us to become responsible and active learners in the new school year, setting both short and long-term goals for learning and personal development, and seizing opportunities to break through ourselves as we embark on our new journey of learning.
