This year’s “Happy Learning. Life” Secondary School Admission Seminar was held right after the campus tour, receiving enthusiastic responses with a record number of over 4,300 participants! During the seminar, Principal Mr. WAN shared the theme “Happydemic for Life” !
Part 1: Education 3.0 and Harnessing Technology: To highlight the concept of T-shaped talents, this seminar was co-created by teachers and students, building a T-shaped stage! As Class 1C WONG Chi-ying played “Remember”, Principal Mr. WAN slowly stepped onto the T-shaped stage to open the seminar! Education 3.0 (limitless possibilities, well-being) emphasizes that “T-shaped talents” should not only possess professional skills but also expand their horizons across multiple fields! During the seminar, a video was shown of Vice Principal Mr. TAM using digital avatar technology to showcase his Japanese language skills at a sister school in Japan. He also engaged the audience and Chloe’s mother in a fun game, creating a lively atmosphere as everyone guessed who the real “Chloe” was (TSE Tsz-yau Chloe, Class 4A).
2025 will be “YLLSS Year of Aerospace,” and we also held a launch ceremony at the seminar! Three “astronauts” (5A CHAN Yi-tsung, 5A Zheng Jerry; 4E WONG Man-kiu) took the stage, and when the rocket launched, the audience felt as if they were there, stirring excitement!
Part 2: Happy Learning and Internationalization: The school offers diverse activities that allow students to thrive in a “happy learning” environment. School life closely follows SPIRE (Social, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, Emotional), with initiatives like rest days, the incorporation of IB elements into junior secondary subjects (such as including oral defense in daily assessments and emphasizing community service), and the design of the Student Growth Report 2.0 to enhance well-being! Improving personal capabilities also contributes to building happiness!
Our school values Chinese culture while promoting internationalization; among YLLSS students, one in five learns a foreign language. To showcase the charm of foreign languages, we specially arranged a “Foreign Language Theater,” featuring our Korean teacher KIM, Spanish exchange student Amara (Class 5A), and several students (2C HE Yining, 2D WONG Ho-kiu, 2E TENG Nicole, 3D LEUNG Nga-yau Sophie, 4A WONG Ting-shu, 5A LEE Pui-yi). Their performance received enthusiastic applause, and the students’ confidence amazed the parents! Additionally, 5A LAM Heung-ying, student who participated in an exchange in Norway last year, shared her views on international talents grounded in Chinese culture, inspiring everyone present.
During the closing segment, Principal Mr. WAN expressed gratitude to all participating students, the Information Day organizing committee, parents, and staff for their support! Vice Principal Mr. TAM then explained the details of an interview to the parents, and in the final Q&A session, Principal Mr. WAN, Vice Principals, and Assistant Principals actively interacted with parents, helping everyone understand our school educational philosophy and future development direction.
Working hard and playing hard in YLLSS! We hope everyone grows through happy learning and continues to enjoy a fulfilling life of joyful learning in the future.
