YLLSS Information Day 2024/25: Campus Tour

The “YLLSS Information Day” enters its third year, with this year’s theme being “Happydemic- Learning Joyfully, Living Fully.” The morning campus tour allows parents and students from various districts to participate in carefully arranged activities by our academic subjects and interest groups, along with brief gatherings with YLLSS students and teachers to experience the joyful learning atmosphere!

Harnessing technology was not only a key theme in the principal’s introduction but also a hands-on experience during the campus tour! A 1:1 student hand-drawn board, illustrated by Principal Mr. WAN, incorporates AR technology across all floors, presenting you with Secret Codes, Visual Arts artwork, STEAM Expo exhibits, campus vending machines, and robot games showcased by the STEAM development group! Each subject group also introduced how to integrate STEAM into their teaching. As you entered the library, you could enjoy the soothing sounds of audiobooks!

Our school’s international positioning is clear and steadfast; the 4th-floor auditorium features a “Cultural Kaleidoscope” theme, led by English teachers and foreign instructors exploring the cultural treasures of Italy, the UK, and Australia! The International Cultural Exchange Committee (ICEC) guided students participating in Japanese, Korean, and German language programs, as well as Spanish and French offerings for junior students in the SALep courses! Our Korean teachers and Spanish exchange students joined in the fun! Additionally, the Japanese and Korean Cultural Society allowed everyone to try on traditional clothing and enjoy local games, immersing them in cultural sentiments. This small space aims to give you a taste of diverse cultures worldwide and inspire your foreign language potential.

The Rhythmic Gala held in the auditorium featured performances by the Percussion Ensemble, Handbell group, Sinfonietta, and Chinese dance, along with the Vocal Band and Christmas Choir from the 1st-floor Music Balcony (missed it? Remember to support us live at YOHO Mall 1 on December 23!). Everyone was captivated by the wonderful melodies throughout the morning.

The uniformed activities spanned from the ground floor to the 5th floor, with over 60% of our students acting as campus tour ambassadors, showcasing the love and excellence of YLLSS students! Other activity booths included the Chinese department’s “Language Feast Journey,” the History department’s “A Day as a Tang Dynasty Person on Chang’an Street,” “Future Museum: Exploring Ancient Egypt,” allowing participants to experience the joy of learning history through games in our junior curriculum! Visual Arts presented “Tie-Dye Art Journey,” Geography offered “Explore Natural Wonders in a Nutshell,” and B.A.F.S showcased “New Year Market Planning Insights,” sharing insights into our New Year marketing strategies! Mathematics had a “Math Challenge,” Physics presented “Unbreakable Eggs,” Biology offered “Foam Fiesta,” and Chemistry explored “A Glance at Molecular Gastronomy!”

Clubs and interest groups included the Animal Protection Society “Animal Guardians,” which introduced visitors to our school cat, Shun-shun, and the Traditional Chinese Medicine interest group “AR Food and Medicine Series”! This year’s shared space, ” *Corner of the Great * ,” is where you’ll find familiar faces of our junior and senior students! Look around, and you might catch Principal Mr. WAN, Vice Principals, and Assistant Principals meeting and taking photos with everyone!

Despite the cold weather, the playground featured bubble soccer as a great warm-up opportunity, along with delicious hot popcorn for everyone, all complemented by our enthusiastic YLLSS spirit!
