On 25 March, our school warmly welcomed Principal Ms. Yoko Domoto, Vice Principal Mr. Yasufumi Kawarada, and two students from our Japanese sister school, J. F. Oberlin Junior and Senior High School. Their visit brought a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere of cultural exchange to our campus.
During the welcoming ceremony, our Principal, Mr. WAN, delivered a heartfelt speech expressing a warm welcome to the delegation from J. F. Oberlin. He highlighted that this visit was a testament to the deep friendship and collaboration between the two schools over the years. Principal Ms. Yoko Domoto also remarked in her speech that the partnership between the two schools has provided valuable learning and growth opportunities for students. Notably, our school cat, ‘Shunshun’, made a special appearance, adding a touch of charm and warmth to the exchange event. Both principals exchanged gifts, which symbolized the sincere and enduring friendship between the two schools.
Following the ceremony, our students led a campus tour, introducing the guests to various facilities, including Communal Space and the library, showcasing the unique features and facilities of our school. The Japanese students also participated in our Biology and English classes, engaging in interactive learning activities with our students. In the classroom, students from both schools collaborated and discussed, sharing knowledge and perspectives. The exchanges of language and culture took place in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, fully demonstrating the appeal of cross-cultural learning.
At noon, we accompanied the Japanese delegation to Lau Fau Shan, where they enjoyed a sumptuous seafood lunch, offering them a taste of authentic local cuisine. The guests were highly impressed with the local dishes. After lunch, everyone strolled along the Lau Fau Shan waterfront, admiring the stunning views of Shenzhen Bay and taking group photos to capture the wonderful memories.
In the afternoon, both schools participated in the face-to-face Global Project, deepening students’ understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures. Through various activities and games, they fostered mutual respect and admiration for each other’s cultural heritage. After the event, students and teachers from both schools gathered in the shared space for a group photo. The smiles in the photo reflected the genuine bonds of friendship, showcasing the strong connection between the two schools.
This exchange provided the guests with a profound understanding of our school’s distinctive culture and features while offering our students the invaluable opportunity to experience the transformative power of cross-cultural interactions. The visit not only reinforced the deep friendship between the two schools but also laid a solid foundation for future collaborations. We eagerly anticipate the next occasion to reunite and further strengthen the ties between our institutions.
