[YLLSS Information Day 2025/26] (S1 Admission Talk Session)

The atmosphere at the S1 admission talk, themed “Embracing Technology, Happydemic for Life”, was incredibly enthusiastic! Following the campus tour, the total number of registered participants exceeded 4,000 people. We thank all parents and students for their enthusiastic participation, which filled the entire event with vitality and warmth!

The talk began with a beautiful rendition of “Remember” played by WONG Chi-ying from Class 2C. Principal Mr. WAN took to the T-shaped stage to vividly explain the concept of a “T-shaped talent”—a combination of expertise and versatility. He shared that the future of children is like a sculpture jointly crafted by parents and the school, meticulously carved stroke by stroke. The school promotes Education 4.0, focusing on cultivating Self-Paced Learning, Digital Skills, Global Citizenship, Collaborative Learning, and Interpersonal Skills to ensure students’ holistic growth.

Principal Mr. WAN mentioned that “Embracing Technology” is not about being addicted to mobile phones, but about using technology to promote growth! On stage, he participated in a game with Marcus’s mother and sister, successfully distinguishing the real Marcus (2E TANG Tsun-yiu Marcus)from two AI videos. This humorous reveal brought sustained laughter from the audience. Mr. WAN further introduced how the school promotes innovative learning with AI, such as using AI Marking to grade Chinese and English compositions, and Moodle AI for on-demand speech training, allowing students more autonomy in their learning and faster growth. He firmly believes that students who make good use of technology will surely shine!

2025 is the “YLLSS Year of Aerospace”! Mr. HO, the Coordinator of the Science Department, along with students CHAN Yan-yuet and YIP Pui-ching from class 4A, and two adorable “astronauts” (4A LAM Long-yui and 5E WONG Man-kiu), excitedly introduced the satellite project. They also announced that the “Lutheranian 1” and “Lutheranian 2” satellites will be officially launched next semester.

A heartwarming Easter egg was hidden in the introductory video—Vice Principal Mr. TAM made a special guest appearance as “Darth Fun” (FUN Warrior)! The valiant astronauts in the video were the ‘future versions’ of CHAN Yan-yuet and YIP Pui-ching! All of this conveyed a wonderful message: at YLLSS, if you have a dream and bravely pursue it, it will eventually come true. The school looks forward to exploring the vast universe with everyone and unlocking infinite possibilities!

Next, the session moved to “Happydemic for Life”. The school offers a rich variety of activities, closely adhering to the SPIRE (Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Relational, Emotional) philosophy, promoting Rest Day, SMART, and Growth Mindset, and implementing the Three-Star Plan (Talent Pool, Star Plan, Career Planning) to help students thrive in happiness! Principal Mr. WAN, student 1D LEE Yuet-wang, teacher Ms. ZHOU Bo-wen, and two primary school students conducted the “Miracle Fruit” experiment, which instantly turned bitter food sweet. This food science demonstration incorporated elements of the IB curriculum, providing a lesson full of surprise and inspiration!

The school actively promotes international development by running the Foreign Language Department and DSE curriculum in parallel, giving students more choices to broaden their horizons. Currently, one in every five students at our school is studying a foreign language! In the “Foreign Language Theatre”, students including 3D SUEN Hau-yi Lavina, 1D LEE Siu-sue, 4E LEUNG Nga-yau Sophie, 3D Wong Ho-ki, 4B CHOI Yuen, and 2E LUI Yuet-shuen, performed together with Principal Mr. WAN and Vice Principal Ms.TANG! The students’ fluent and confident foreign language performance instantly amazed all the parents, who gave continuous applause! Ms. TANG even wore smart glasses for real-time translation, which was full of technological flair and earned enthusiastic cheers!

However, as the message of this segment conveyed—no matter how advanced smart glasses are, they cannot compare to the sense of accomplishment and joy of truly mastering a foreign language! At YLLSS, learning a foreign language is not just for exams; it is a key to opening the door to the world, allowing every student to confidently walk further!

Principal Mr. WAN concluded by thanking everyone who worked hard both on and off stage. Vice Principal Mr. TAM then provided a detailed explanation of the interview arrangements. Finally, during the Q&A session, the Principal, Vice Principals, and Assistant Principals responded to parents’ questions one by one, allowing everyone to better understand YLLSS’s educational philosophy. With the school and families united, each generation will surpass the last! At The ELCHK Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School, we believe in working hard and playing hard, and we hope every student grows in joyful learning and leads a rich, happy life of learning.

YLLSS is ready to embark on an enriching learning journey with you as we shape the future together!
