YLLSS Year of Aerospace Program | YLLSS’s Own Satellite is Launching into Space at the End of This School Year!

This is not a distant science fiction plot, but a major campus event happening right here! The ELCHK Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School is about to welcome its very own exclusive satellite, which will, at the end of this school year, carry the expectations of all teachers and students into the vast and brilliant universe!

During the three-year control period after launch, this satellite will be independently managed by our school. It is equipped with multiple practical payload functions—it can not only achieve remote communication and capture mysterious space scenes but also upload creative media works from teachers and students, and even capture valuable meteorological images. Furthermore, some trained students will personally operate this satellite to conduct various learning and exploration activities. From now on, the once distant dream of space is no longer a fantasy, but a real subject that can be practiced in the classroom and touched!

To transform the students’ yearning for space into an accessible passion and knowledge, we invited a powerful supporter—our satellite launch partner and the executive council member unit of the China Aerospace Council, Space-Starlink Holdings (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., to assist our students.

A small space exploration box holds the mysteries of the entire universe! Junior S1 students and STEAM leaders got a close-up look at the “hidden structure” of the space station, witnessed the super thrust of the launch vehicle, disassembled the intricate design of the satellite, and even delved into the wealth of knowledge contained within a spacesuit. Even more exciting was that everyone got to personally assemble a satellite prototype, experiencing the daily life of an aerospace engineer step by step, from component assembly to structural restoration! The aerospace knowledge that was once out of reach is now a three-dimensional, visible, and fun picture. Students can not only choose their favorite theme for free exploration but also personally operate the thruster game, immersing themselves in the thrilling moment of a rocket soaring into the sky! These precious experiences will transform into shining seeds, quietly planted in the hearts of every child.

During the event, students actively participated, and the STEAM leaders seized the opportunity to ask and discuss questions with Ms. Georgina CHAN, the person in charge, demonstrating their full enthusiasm and dedication to innovative science and technology exploration!

Scientific research is never a distant term; it is the joy of personally assembling a satellite prototype, and the immense sense of accomplishment from programming it and giving it unique functions. When children participate in this activity, they gain not only aerospace knowledge but also the excitement and emotion of moving from exploration to creation, from a dream to knocking on the door of success!
