The launch ceremony for the “YLL ParentWise Academy” Parent Academy (義家易．家長學苑) was held with great significance on 25 October, 2025. The school was honored to welcome Dr. CHAN Kwok-ling, Honorary Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, LKS Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong, and Prof. Steve FONG Fu-fai, Head of the Department of Social Work at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, as the officiating guests for the event.
In his address, Principal Mr. WAN shared the deep significance embedded within the name “Lutheranian-Family-Easy” (義家易). This term emphasizes three key elements: Lutheranian (信義), Family (家), and Easy (易), representing the mutual care extended among teachers, parents, and students within the larger YLLSS community. He explained that “YLL ParentWise Academy” operates like a family, centering on the children and underscoring the vital importance of home-school cooperation. This partnership is metaphorically compared to a pair of chopsticks, working together to support a child’s growth and face any challenges, ultimately making everything “Easy” (容「易」)—a core meaning of the initiative.
Principal Mr. WAN further elaborated on the second layer of meaning, describing it mathematically as 2 plus 2. One ‘2’ signifies home-school collaboration, while the other ‘2’ represents the parent-child relationship, with the student becoming the focal point of this combined effort. The fundamental goal is to use the ‘Family’ (家) as the core unit, collaboratively cultivating a joyous learning atmosphere and actively enhancing the overall sense of well-being for all Lutheranians. This launch day also coincided with the October “Principal Chit-Chat” session, where the Principal cherished the opportunity to interact with parents, exchange ideas, and learn valuable parenting experiences, which perfectly encapsulates the very spirit of ‘Lutheranian -Family-Easy’(義家易).
During the ceremony, the ‘YLL ParentWise Academy’ officially established its Parent Advisory Team, consisting of 11 members who received their letters of appointment from the Principal. The distinguished members are Mr. CHAN Sheung-fuk, Mr. CHAN Shun-kiu, Mr. WONG Kai-sum, Ms. CHAU Pui -hing Patsy, Mr. CHIU Chi-ho, Dr. Alexandra KALININA, Mr. LEE Kwok-chuen Woody, Mr. LEUNG Yip-pang, Mr. LUI Kin, MH, Ms. TANG Shuk-kwan, and Mr. YEUNG Siu-ki Mark.
Immediately following the launch, a Parent Education Workshop organized by the Education Bureau took place. Dr. CHAN Kwok-ling presented on the theme ‘Caring and Growing Together: A Healthy Online Life,’ providing in-depth insights into adolescents’ use of electronic products, how to identify gaming disorder, and effective screen time management. She also offered practical advice to parents on enhancing communication with their children and establishing mutually agreed-upon parent-child guidelines.
The ‘YLL ParentWise Academy’ is poised to introduce a future series of talks and workshops primarily focused on family well-being, parent-child communication, and emotional support, and plans to integrate AI educational tools. This launch marks a significant milestone, ushering the school’s home-school co-education efforts into a new era where all stakeholders will continue to collaborate in creating a supportive and loving environment for student growth.
