When tradition meets the classical, and inspiration flows through the fingertips, the Piano Masterclass at The ELCHK Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School concluded successfully amidst the lingering echoes of beautiful music.
The musical feast began with the warm and professional introduction of our student MC, HO Wing-sze (2D), whose elegant delivery set a dignified yet expectant tone for the event. Through her detailed introductions, she led the audience into the stories and emotions behind masterpieces such as Ravel’s Jeux d’eau and Haydn’s sonatas.
Following the opening, Mr. YEUNG, who has long nurtured the students’ musical development, delivered a speech. He shared his passion for music education and introduced our distinguished guest of the day, Dr. Franky LEUNG Jr. It was through Mr. YEUNG’s dedicated efforts and connections that our students had the rare opportunity to learn directly from such an esteemed master.
Four of our talented students took to the stage, demonstrating both courage and technical skill:
WONG Chi-ying (2C): Delicately performed the purity and grace of Haydn’s Sonata in E-flat Major
LEE Yuet-wang (1D): Interpreted the East-meets-West beauty of CHU Wang-hua’s profoundly moving ‘Qing Ge’ (love song)
TANG Pak-man (5D): Performed a powerful and emotionally charged rendition of Frédéric Chopin’s masterpiece, Fantaisie-Impromptu
CHAN Wai-tsung (4E): Vividly captured the fluid movements of water in Ravel’s Jeux d’eau
After each performance, Dr. Franky provided invaluable guidance, offering insights that were both technically precise and artistically inspiring, leaving the students and teachers in attendance with much to reflect upon. As the event drew to a close, Mr. YEUNG presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Franky on behalf of the school, symbolizing our deep gratitude for this shared experience of artistic heritage.
Our sincere thanks go to Dr. Franky for his expert guidance, and to all the teachers and students who contributed to making this event such a success. May this experience serve as the most precious nourishment for our students’ continued growth on their musical journeys!
