The theme of this year’s “Choral and Orchestral Concert” was “Gazing East and West”, a brilliant fusion of classical, pop, and folk music. Our orchestra performed on the same stage as the Education University of Hong Kong Orchestra. Following intensive rehearsals, the two groups demonstrated outstanding chemistry, bringing a surprise to the audience!
For the repertoire, our orchestra performed two classic works from the Romantic era, both composed by the renowned musician Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The first was the “Theme from Swan Lake Opus 20a, No.1 Scene”, arranged by Chris M. Bernotas, and the second was Tchaikovsky’s classic masterpiece, the “Romeo and Juliet Overture”.
During the concert, teacher Mr. YEUNG Hon-kwan served as the conductor for our school’s orchestra. Our student, YUEN Jeanne, collaborated with other choirs using a Chinese drum, successfully bringing YLLSS’s music into the community and fostering deep friendships through the sharing of music.
We would like to extend our special thanks to Principal Mr. WAN, Vice-Principal, and parents for their presence and support, which injected infinite strength into our orchestra!
We are also grateful to the Yuen Long District Office for providing this valuable opportunity to showcase our talent.
The friendships forged through music will become the most precious memory of YLLSS. Let us continue to shine brightly on our musical journey!
