Embarking on a Heartfelt Journey: The “Support for EM” Buddy Program

Today, our school’s social service prefects visited Pat Heung Central Primary School to launch this year’s “Support for EM” Buddy Program, collaborating with the school’s senior students from ethnic minority backgrounds. The program focuses on cultural integration and supporting growth, building genuine connections between hearts.

At the beginning of the activity, our school’s social service prefects thoughtfully designed icebreaker games to break the ice. In relaxed interaction, the initial awkwardness melted away, and smiles of friendship blossomed on every face. Afterwards, our prefects started with the familiar Chinese cultural custom of the twelve zodiac animals, working with the senior students to make ‘bamboo-woven horse bookmarks.’ They explained that in Chinese culture, bamboo symbolizes perseverance and upward growth, while the horse represents ambition and success, making abstract cultural concepts concrete and tangible. During the crafting process, our prefects patiently guided the students, facilitating cultural exchange and from initial awkward greetings to seamless teamwork, allowing students from both schools to deeply feel that ‘giving and receiving are equally blessed.’

Through interaction, both parties have built a close partnership culture, learned to appreciate each other’s differences, and gathered strength for growth through inheritance!
