Geography is the study of the Earth. Our department believes the best way to learn geography is to explore the world outside classroom.
Global Classroom
Through participating in study tours around the globe, students would have a more thorough understanding towards man-land relationship and develop a sense of citizenship, a global outlook, and readiness to take action for the betterment of society, the nation and the world. Our department has visited England, Iceland and Sabah after the pandemic. It has brought textbook knowledge to life.
Local Field Trips
Apart from Global Classroom, in order to cultivate students’ fieldwork skills, our department also organizes various local field trips for students to explore the nature of our city and explain geographical phenomena. Students can acquire the hands-on experience in using relevant fieldwork equipment to collect data.
Multimedia Production Office – Geography
Geography is a dynamic subject while the use of contemporary issues is one of the effective ways of motivating students to learn Geography. Through multimedia production office, students share geographical knowledge and investigate the latest geography hot issues via video production.
Walk With Scholars
Professor Ng Mee Kam, the Director of the Urban Studies Programme and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Geography and Resource Management, and Professor Lam Chi Chong, an adjunct professor from the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, are two of the scholars in our Walk with Scholars program. Our students are able to interact with the two renowned scholar in the field of urban planning and geography education. Each year, Professor Ng will share with our students about the latest urban planning strategies and projects while Professor Lam will share some learning tips of the subject.
