At The ELCHK Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School (YLLSS), youthful dreams drift like clouds, soaring from technological innovation to aviation! Today, let’s share the story of our student CHAN Yi-tsung, and how he bravely pursued his aviation dream with the guidance and love of his father!
The hero in the family—Yi-tsung’s father—used wisdom and patience to ensure his son felt the support and love. He believes that “a child’s future has infinite possibilities”. Even though he doesn’t strongly advocate for the use of electronic products, he fully embraces Yi-tsung’s passion for technology. During his primary school years, Yi-tsung, guided by his father, transitioned from the basics of operating Vex robots to mastering advanced programming concepts, ultimately crafting his own innovative creations.
On this journey, Vice Principal Mr. CHAN became Yi-tsung’s mentor. During the pandemic, he tirelessly used online teaching to help Yi-tsung overcome complex programming challenges, ensuring that technological creation was no longer a solitary endeavor and sparking deeper innovative thinking. As Yi-tsung participated in various competitions, his confidence and abilities gradually increased, allowing him to hone his skills by competing against formidable opponents.
In recent years, with the promotion of university gifted programs, Yi-tsung gradually discovered his true passion—aerospace technology—through a course at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He realized that the joy of exploring technology is not about rigid calculation but is the pursuit of open-minded thinking.
YLLSS has designated 2025-26 as the “Year of Aerospace Science”, inviting students to participate in the making and design of satellites. This allows Yi-tsung to be deeply involved in the professional aerospace field as the STEAM Head Prefect. A profound interest in aviation has been ignited in his heart, and he has firmly set his sights on pursuing aerospace engineering.
Education is about guiding children to understand themselves through exploration. Within this small campus, we are witnessing them step towards a broader future, helping every dream shine brightly!
