From November 3rd to 7th, 33 teachers and students from our school traveled to Hunan to participate in the “Hong Kong-Hunan Youth Exchange Program.” Our first stop was Juzizhou Island, known as “China’s First Isle”. Under the artistic sculpture of the young MAO Zedong, we collectively recited the poem “Changsha” (《沁園春·長沙》), commemorating the revolutionary spirit and appreciating the cultural significance behind the lyrics.
Following this, we visited the The High School Attached to Hunan Normal University Bocai Experimental Middle School. We were warmly welcomed by the teachers and students, initiating a cultural exchange between the two regions and forging a bond of national fraternity. In the afternoon, we toured the Hunan Embroidery Museum, where we witnessed the exquisite craftsmanship of Hunan Embroidery artists who “use needles as pens and threads as colors”. We were filled with admiration for this traditional handicraft.
Teachers and students also visited the Yuelu Academy, a millennium-old institution of learning, strolling through its ancient courtyards and lecture halls to experience the scholarly spirit of the ancients. They also explored Yuelu Mountain to learn about geology.
Finally, the group visited a major domestic engineering machinery enterprise, Sany Heavy Industry, to witness the development of a state-owned enterprise, and toured Hunan TV to experience the integration of technology and culture.
This Hunan exchange trip allowed students to appreciate traditional culture, marvel at the nation’s latest technological advancements, and experience the local customs and traditions. Through this exchange, all students embodied the spirit of “HappyDemic”, fully engaging in the activities and actively promoting the inheritance of Chinese culture.
