S1 Blessing Ceremony

Education Sunday Service cum S.1 Blessing Ceremony was held on September 12, 2021 to introduce and deepen students’ and parents’ understanding of Christian Faith and the ELCHK Tin Yiu Life Lutheran Church. The Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong KongRev. CHANG Chun-waHead of the Department of Education of ELCHK, Mr LAU Wai-hay, School Supervisor, Rev. LAM Yat-kwan Jenny, Principal WAN Ho-yin, Vice-Principal TAM Kin-fun, Vice-Principal TANG Chi-lai, Vice-Principal THUNG-ming, Assistant Principal CHAN Yiu-ming and School Religious Director LAM Kwun-lun all offered blessings to the S1 students and their parents.

The ceremony started with a praise to the Lord with hymns led by the School Fellowship. We are honoured to have Rev. CHANG Chun-wa give us a sermon and share the importance of following the Holy Spirit and thus bearing His fruits.

Although it was not possible to seat all the parents and students in the auditorium due to the epidemic, one classroom after another, Rev. Chang, Mr. Lau, Rev. Ms. Lam and Mr. Wan all give their blessings to students and parents. Parent representatives of each class also joined hands with the school to encourage students and wish them a bright future.

Each student received a small wooden box as a token, which contained many cards containing blessings from the Principal, the ELCHK Tin Yiu Life Lutheran Church, class teachers, Religion Studies teachers and parents, and later their expectation on oneself. In the coming 6 years, messages containing blessings of peace, joy, love and faith from God, which will be the greatest motivation for the faithful to learn, grow and transform, will fill the boxes, so that they will eventually bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit, glorifying God and benefiting others, and shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith, gentle behaviour, control over desires: against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have put to death on the cross the flesh with its passions and its evil desires. If we are living by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us be guided. Let us not be full of self-glory, making one another angry, having envy of one another.
