The second meeting of the Global Project was successfully held on 30th January, 2026! This exchange activity continued the theme of traditional games, with student representatives from Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College, Fukui Prefectural School : Usui High School, Obirin Junior & Senior High School, and Momoyama Junior High School Attached to Kyoto University of Education sharing unique traditional games from their respective regions, allowing students to deepen their cultural understanding and cross-regional friendships through interaction.
During the event, Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College introduced the classic board game Aeroplane Chess, whose simple and easy-to-play rules evoked many students’ childhood memories, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for exchange.
Obirin Junior & Senior High School and Momoyama Junior High School shared the Japanese traditional game “Hyakunin Isshi” (One Hundred Poets, One Poem), explaining not only the rules but also delving into the literary heritage behind it and the power of focus, allowing students to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Japanese traditional culture. During the session, students from Momoyama Junior High School even wore traditional kimonos for a live demonstration, adding a rich cultural flair to the event.
Furthermore, Fukui Usui High School introduced “Shogi”, a traditional Japanese board game, explaining its historical background and strategic features, allowing students to appreciate the cultural wisdom and spiritual heritage inherent in this intellectual game.
The conference also included a peer exchange session, allowing students from different regions to share their daily lives, school experiences, and interests, bridging the gap between them in relaxed conversations, deepening friendships, and truly embodying the spirit of intercultural exchange.
Through multi-school sharing and interaction, students not only deepened their understanding of traditional games and cultures from various regions but also cultivated an attitude of inclusivity and respect, enhancing their intercultural communication skills and global perspective.
